Senior Software Engineer

Join the GILO team as a senior software engineer. Gain experience at a tech startup. Help productionalize the app's web editor and polish its frontend for maximum usability and performance.

Task description for the APIs (MLOps)

Foundational MLOps practices (see here for the definition)
Convert Jypiter scripts to Python functions and productionalize them in the (existing) FastAPI server
Memory consumption optimizations, code optimizations, and best practices for putting ML models into production
Working closely with our data scientists and CTO to engineer and release machine learning models into production
Testing and maintaining the API server

Task Descriptions for the Front-end work

Work with a small team to complete the web-based GILO app
Modify our DEMO Web application (nodeJS, React) to interact with the existing API server and render API outputs in the front end according to the existing UI designs
End-to-end user testing of the Demo web app and making sure it’s ready for our demo sessions
See the draft of our web app here
Possible (not guaranteed) re-write the web app to use simpler technologies like NodeJS and Bootstrap
Possible extension of the work - further improvements and adding new features

Qualifications

Proficient in English
Minimum of five years experience in software engineering, which can be proven through personal or work projects
Great at digging for information, searching, and asking the right questions
Communicative and eager to improve
Good self-leadership abilities

Junior Backend Developer

Join the GILO team as a junior backend developer for the fall. Gain experience at a tech startup and work directly with our CTO, AI Engineer, and computational linguist on the GILO app.

Job Responsibilities

Work with a small team to build the GILO app’s logical fallacies and cognitive biases functions
Test the machine learning algorithms to debug errors and detect false-positives and other inconsistencies
Build Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for the GILO app

Job Skills and Qualifications

Proficient in English
Minimum of two years studying to be a backend developer
Two years experience coding with Python
Ability to work with many Python libraries, BERT, and spaCy
Strong knowledge of how integration works with APIs

Work remotely at least 80% of the time.
The start date is November 2021, and the end date is August, 2023.

Job Responsibilities

Prepare textual data and build data pipelines to pull information together from different sources
Make data accessible for data scientists and analysts to analyze properly
Deal with raw data that often contains a lot of errors

Experienced with MS Office, especially MS excel
